WLC Drops Conference Opener At Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The high-powered Lakeland Muskies offense scored 37 unanswered points to open the game, as the Wisconsin Lutheran College football team fell 56-7 on Saturday afternoon in the first NACC contest for both teams at Taylor Field.

  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (0-3, 0-1 NACC), Lakeland (3-0, 1-0 NACC)
  • Location: Taylor Field, Plymouth, Wis.

  • The Muskies marched down the field and scored on their first two possessions of the game, followed by a field goal, to take an early 17-0 lead after the first quarter.
  • Following a Warriors punt, Lakeland gained favorable field position, resulting in a rushing touchdown to start the second quarter.
  • WLC turned the ball over on its next two possessions, which LU took advantage of with a seven-yard run and a 55-yard touchdown throw.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran scored its first touchdown of the game on a 45-yard rush from senior Justin Parbs (Brookfield, Wis.) with under five minutes left in the second. The scoring drive took just four plays over 69 yards. 
  • The Muskies responded with a long 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, followed by another rushing touchdown just before the end of the second quarter, to take a 50-7 lead into halftime.
  • At the start of the third quarter, Lakeland scored on a nine-yard rushing touchdown for what were the game's final points.
  • Senior Nick Yockey (Gig Harbor, Wash.) completed 16-of-29 passes for 143 yards, while sophomore Mike DuPree (Milwaukee, Wis.) caught seven passes for 83 yards. Parbs carried the ball 11 times for 78 yards and a touchdown.
  • Senior Ty Castillo (Palmetto, Fla.) posted a game-high 14 tackles and freshman Vinny LoGiudice (River Ridge, La.) had 10 tackles, including a forced fumble and pass break-up.

  • The Warriors have off for their bye next weekend. They are then scheduled to host Aurora (1-2, 1-0 NACC) on Saturday, October 2 for Hall of Fame Day. The game is slated to kick off at 1 p.m. at Raabe Stadium. Live coverage links will be available at WLCSports.com.
