MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College head football coach
Eric Treske has announced the hiring of
Nick Schroeder as the program's offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to join WLC football and impact young people through a Christ-centered program," said Schroeder. "I can't wait to continue to grow in my faith and help young men grow in theirs."
Schroeder arrives at WLC following a highly successful stint as head coach at Barron High School, where he engineered a dramatic turnaround of the program. Since taking over in 2023, Schroeder ended a 19-game losing streak and led the Golden Bears to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2024 and 2025 – the program's first postseason berths in 12 years and first consecutive appearances since 1990.
Under his leadership, Barron's offense saw a significant resurgence, increasing scoring output from 4.0 points per game to 30.0 points per game over three seasons while boosting total touchdowns from five to 39. Defensively, his teams improved from allowing 50.0 points per game to just 22.4. Schroeder also directed one of the top passing offenses in his conference in two of his three seasons while calling plays on offense, defense, and special teams.
In addition to his on-field success, Schroeder emphasized excellence in the classroom and program development. He elevated the team GPA from 2.30 to 3.39, helping the program earn its first-ever Academic All-State honor from the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association in 2025. He was recognized as a Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week in 2024.
Schroeder also served as Barron's head strength and speed coach, designing and implementing a school-wide training program that produced measurable athletic gains across multiple sports. His work contributed to three teams reaching state tournaments, including a girls volleyball state championship.
Prior to Barron, Schroeder was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Kettle Moraine High School from 2020-2022. There, he more than doubled the Lasers' scoring output, increasing from 10 to 29 points per game, while developing the conference's top passing offense and multiple all-conference and all-state quarterbacks.
"We are excited to welcome Nick back home to WLC," said Treske. "Nick leads with passion and faith, and his work ethic sets a great example for everyone in our program. I'm excited to see the positive impact he'll have on our Warriors family."
Schroeder began his collegiate coaching career at Lakeland University as an offensive graduate assistant and passing game coordinator from 2017-2020. During his tenure, the Muskies' offense improved from 31.5 to 42.3 points per game and ranked among the top units in NCAA Division III, including the No. 2 offense nationally in 2017. He also played a key role in recruiting and strength and conditioning across multiple sports.
Schroeder holds a master's degree in education from Concordia University Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from Lakeland, where he also earned his bachelor's degree in history. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in educational administration from CUW.
