Box Score 2 RANTOUL, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Senior Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.) went 7-for-8 and hit four home runs over two games, but the Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped both games of its season-opening doubleheader to Lawrence on Saturday at the Rantoul Family Sports Complex. The Vikings defeated the Warriors by scores of 13-5 and 5-4.

- Dominick led off the game with a solo shot to right field to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead in the first. He smacked a two-out RBI single in the second inning that plated freshman Nathan Whisler (Tahoe City, Calif.) for a 2-0 WLC lead.
- With two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the second, the Vikings drew six consecutive walks and scored five runs on just one hit to take a three-run lead.
- Wisconsin Lutheran closed to within a run the next inning when senior Nick Poblocki (Bartlett, Ill.) belted a two-run home run that scored sophomore Foster Engelhardt (North Richland Hills, Texas).
- LU added to its one-run lead in the fourth with a three-run homer and tacked on four more in the sixth to extend its lead to eight runs.
- The Green and White got one run back in the eighth on another solo blast from Dominick. Lawrence added a final tally in its half of the eighth as the final score read 13-5.
- Dominick went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Poblocki finished with two hits and two RBI. Engelhardt also tallied a pair of hits, as the Warriors out-hit the Vikings 9-7 in the opener.
- The Vikings scored three runs on two hits in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead over the Warriors.
- Junior Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.) drove in freshman Tyler Danko (Milwaukee, Wis.) with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning to put WLC on the board.
- After stranding the bases loaded in the sixth, Dominick hit his third bomb of the day to leadoff the seventh and cut Wisconsin Lutheran's deficit to just a run.
- LU scored twice in the eighth on a two-out, two-run home run to take a 5-2 lead.
- The Green and White rallied in the ninth with back-to-back home runs to lead off the inning from Danko and Dominick to trim the deficit to just one.
- Engelhardt drew a two-out walk, but his run was left stranded at first when the final out was recorded.
- Dominick finished 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in the nightcap. Engelhardt and Danko added two hits apiece, with Danko also scoring twice.
- The Warriors also out-hit the Vikings in game two, 10-6.
- Junior Fabio Kamitani (Naviraí, Brazil) allowed just one earned run over 6.0 innings in his first start since March 10, 2020.
- The Warriors next travel to Fort Myers, Florida for their annual spring break trip where they will play seven games in seven days. WLC begins its week with a doubleheader against Skidmore (2-0) on Sunday, March 13 at 11 a.m. CST.
