Warriors Fall To NACC-Leading Eagles

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team dropped a pair of games to NACC co-leader Benedictine on Saturday afternoon at Neumann Family Field. The Eagles defeated the Warriors 12-3 in the opener before winning the nightcap 23-0 in seven innings.

  • The Eagles got the scoring going early in the opener with a pair of runs in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead.
  • BenU added a pair of insurance runs in the fourth with back-to-back two-out hits to extend its lead to 4-0.
  • A solo home run and a sacrifice fly in the fifth gave Benedictine a 6-0 lead through five innings of play.
  • The Eagles launched a pair of two-run home runs in the sixth inning to lead 10-0.
  • After a BenU error to start the sixth inning, junior Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.) got the Warriors on the scoreboard with a RBI double to the right-center field gap. Raabe later came around to score on a sac fly from sophomore Jake Sillan (Castle Rock, Colo.) to trim the deficit to 10-2.
  • Benedictine added a pair of runs in the seventh inning, but WLC got a run back in the bottom half on a RBI single from senior Josh Enevold (Jackson, Wis.) that plated freshman Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.).
  • Wisconsin Lutheran's offense recorded 10 hits in the contest and was led by three hits from Zaccanti. Seniors Ryan Dominick (Bartlett, Ill.) and Nick Poblocki (Bartlett, Ill.) each added two hits.

  • The Eagles applied early pressure in the nightcap and took a 2-0 advantage after a RBI double and two-out single in the first inning.
  • BenU extended its lead with three runs on three hits in the second inning to expand its lead to 5-0.
  • After a scoreless third inning, Benedictine exploded for six runs, four coming with two outs, to lead 11-0 after four innings of play.
  • In the fifth inning, the Eagles had eight straight batters reach base and scored 10 runs on just four hits in the frame.
  • The visitors added two more runs in the seventh to extend their lead to 23-0.
  • Enevold and junior Danny Cain (Jackson, Wis.) each recorded a hit for WLC in the nightcap.
