Kamitani's Complete Game Shutout Highlights Senior Day Split

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) – Junior right-hander Fabio Kamitani (Naviraí, Brazil) tossed a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team to a 2-0 game one Senior Day win over St. Norbert on Friday afternoon at Neumann Family Baseball Field. The Green Knights won the nightcap over the Warriors, 4-1.

  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (12-22, 7-15 NACC); St. Norbert (17-15, 14-8 NACC)

  • Both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings, despite the Warriors leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the second.
  • Senior Matthew Schulenburg (Hampshire, Ill.) singled to center with one out in the fourth to score senior Nick Poblocki (Bartlett, Ill.) and put WLC ahead 1-0.
  • Junior Carter Raabe (Mukwonago, Wis.) advanced home on an error from Poblocki's single to left as Wisconsin Lutheran took a 2-0 lead in the sixth.
  • The Green Knights stranded two runners on base in the eighth and another in the ninth as the score held 2-0.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran's offense recorded 12 hits in the contest and was led by three hits each from Poblocki and senior Ethan Orcutt (East Dubuque, Ill.). Senior Josh Enevold (Jackson, Wis.) added two hits and four more players added one hit apiece for the Green and White.
  • Kamitani tossed a complete game shutout, scattering eight hits and striking out seven. He faced the minimum in three innings. 
  • WLC honored its seven seniors during a between-game ceremony in Daniel Quartuccio (Milwaukee, Wis.), Joshua Carlson (Tomah, Wis.), Schulenburg, Orcutt, Poblocki, Enevold, and Diego Solares (Huntley, Ill.).

  • The Warriors had runners on base in three of the first four innings, but couldn't plate a run. The Green Knights got on the board in the fourth via a two-out throwing error for a 1-0 lead.
  • A RBI groundout and a sac fly in the sixth inning gave SNC a 3-0 lead over WLC.
  • A two-out RBI single to center in the seventh off the bat of freshman Tyler Danko (Milwaukee, Wis.) plated freshman Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.) and put Wisconsin Lutheran on the scoreboard.
  • St. Norbert added an insurance run in the eighth on a two-out RBI single for a 4-1 advantage.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran collected eight hits in the nightcap and was led by two hits from Poblocki. Six other players added one hit apiece.
