Isaiah Herried (Necedah, Wis.) posted a runner-up individual finish to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to fifth place on Saturday at the Gene Davis Invitational at Reid Municipal Golf Course. The Warriors, who had seven runners achieve personal-best times, totaled 108 points in the 11-team scoring field.
Herried placed second overall out of 185 runners to lead WLC with the third-fastest 8K time in program history of 25:09.0, which was also good for a personal best. Senior
Adam Kriefall (New Berlin, Wis.) was 20th with a personal-best time of 26:18.7. Junior
Josh Staggs (Oostburg, Wis.) was 36th with a personal-best time of 26:47.0. Senior
Will Caldwell (Milwaukee, Wis.) was 63rd with a personal-best time of 27:30.0, while sophomore
Noah Micheel (Mequon, Wis.) was 64th with a personal-best time of 27:32.0 to complete Wisconsin Lutheran's team score.Â
Host Lawrence, which had a pair of top-10 finishers, scored 41 points to take home the team crown. Steven Potter of North Coast Running won the 8K individual title with a time of 24:45.4.
Next week, the Warriors will send runners to both the Private College Championships in Mequon and Jim Drews Invitational in West Salem. Both 8K events are scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
