GREEN BAY, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College finished fourth overall and second among NCAA Division III teams on Saturday at the season-opening Tom Barry Invitational at Shorewood Cross Country Course.
The Warriors were fourth out of 11 scoring teams in the final standings with 146 points, but were runner-up to Lawrence among the seven NCAA Division III teams represented at the meet.
Senior
Isaiah Herried (Necedah, Wis.) paced WLC with a 23rd-place finish in the 122-runner field with a 6K time of 20:25.80. Sophomore
Arnold Rupnow (Watertown, Wis.) posted a 25th-place finish with a time of 20:30.37.Â
Junior
Josh Staggs (Oostburg, Wis.) was 34th at 20:52.19, sophomore
Silas Ebeling (Wauwatosa, Wis.) was 39th at 21:00.00, and junior
Josh Staggs (Oostburg, Wis.) rounded out Wisconsin Lutheran's team score in 45th at 21:05.58.
Green Bay, which had all five of its scoring runners finish inside the top-8, won the team title with 23 points. Noah Jahnke of Green Bay was the top overall finisher with a time of 18:47.76.
The Warriors are off for three weeks before returning to the course on Saturday, September 21 for the St. Olaf Invitational. The 8K race is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start in Northfield, Minnesota.
