STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's and women's track & field teams broke two school
records on Saturday at the UW-Stevens Point Pointer Invitational at
the Multi-Activity Center.
Zach Shiels (Johnson Creek, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) improved on
his own school record in the mile run by five seconds by finishing
in 4:24, good for sixth place. Shiels came back later and ran a
personal-best time of 2:02 in the 800-meter run.
Tyler Schroeder (Sparta, Wis./Bangor) finished with a
personal-best time of 4:48 in the mile run, while Blake Miller
(Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) also ran a personal-best in
the 800 with a time of 2:07.
Junior Matt Moeller (Clinton, Mich./Clinton) competed in the
55-meter hurdles, high jump and long jump.
Sam Sturomski (St. Francis, Wis./St. Francis), the lone Warrior
female athlete to compete on the day, broke the school record in
the 55-meter hurdles by finishing in 9.45.
Wisconsin Lutheran, who brought five athletes to the meet,
tallied three points in the men's team standings. The women did not
qualify for a team score.
UW-Oshkosh captured the women's team title by scoring 177.50
points. Host UW-Stevens Point was the men's team champion after
scoring 165.50 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran will compete in the Northern Athletics
Conference Indoor Championship on Friday at 3 p.m. at Carthage
College in Kenosha.
