Sabres collect 6-3 victory over Warriors

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team was defeated by the Marian University Sabres 6-3 on Tuesday in a Northern Athletics Conference dual match.

Marian collected wins in the first three flights of singles competition before the Warriors came back to take two of the final three matches in singles play. Sophomore Arik McGathey (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) defeated Samuel Cripe at No. 4 singles 3-6, 6-0, 6-4. Junior Jon Jossart (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Sean Streicher at No. 6 singles.

In doubles action, the Sabres won matches at No. 1 and No. 2 before WLC was able to win the third and final showdown. Jossart teamed with Joe Workman (McLean, Va./Langley) to defeat Streicher and Ross Lee 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Wisconsin Lutheran (0-5, 0-5 NAC) hosts Rockford College and Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday in a double dual at the Princeton Club. The first match against the Regents is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
