KOHLER, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's tennis team was defeated by the Lakeland College Muskies 8-1
in its season-opening Northern Athletics Conference match on
Thursday afternoon at the Kohler Sports Core.
Junior Jon Jossart (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) picked
up WLC's lone match victory of the afternoon at No. 6 singles by
defeating Dan Spatchek 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.
In No. 1 singles action, sophomore Alex Allister (Lake Mills,
Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Andre Glass.
Kazuyoshi Yamasaki defeated junior Steve Carran (Beaver Dam,
Wis./Luther Preparatory) 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Mike
Reimer (Sheboygan, Wis./South) was defeated by Yuki Shiono at No. 3
singles 6-1, 6-4. Dartanian Taylor topped sophomore Arik McGathey
(Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, while
senior Joe Workman (McLean, Va./Langley) fell to Tom Kuehl 6-2, 6-3
at No. 5 singles.
The Warriors were on the short end of all three of their doubles
matches by scores of 8-2, 8-0 and 8-3, respectively.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-1, 0-1 NAC) travels to River Forest, Ill.,
on Saturday for a NAC match against the Dominican University Stars
at 2 p.m.
