MILWAUKEE - Junior Meta Kolander (Brookfield,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) scored four goals to lead the Wisconsin
Lutheran College women's soccer team over the short-handed Rockford
College Regents, 11-1, on Wednesday in a Northern Athletics
Conference game at Warrior Field.
Kolander, who scored all four of her goals in the first half,
was one of seven different Warriors who tallied at least one goal
in the contest. Freshman Steph Perez-Murillo (San Mateo,
Calif./California Lutheran) and senior Brittany Peters (Elkhorn,
Wis./Elkhorn) accounted for the other three goals of the first half
as WLC built a 7-0 lead at the break.
Freshmen Emily Helwig (Westland, Mich./Huron Valley Lutheran),
Lauren Mantz (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran), Kristen
Lavallee (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) and sophomore Kathryn Koepke
(Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) each netted a goal in the
second half to round out the scoring for Wisconsin Lutheran, which
finished with 33 shot attempts in the match. Lavallee paced the
forest green and white with nine shots.
Helwig was credited with three assists, while Peters, Koepke,
Kolander, Nicole Livigne (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) and Allison Mielke
(Green Bay, Wis./N.E.W. Lutheran) also assisted on goals for
WLC.
Junior Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) faced seven
shots, including four on goal, and allowed a goal for the
Warriors.
Courtney Neville tallied the Regents' only score of the contest,
which came in the 63rd minute. Rockford (0-4, 0-2 NAC), which
fielded only eight players, finished the game with seven shots
attempted.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-4, 1-0 NAC) hosts the MSOE Raiders on
Saturday in a 1 p.m. NAC showdown at Warrior Field.
