RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The WLC men's tennis team
was defeated by Concordia University Chicago 9-0 on Saturday in its
second Northern Athletics Conference dual match of the day.
The Cougars (4-5, 3-2 NAC) were victorious over the Warriors in
all nine flights, sweeping five singles matches and two doubles
matches.
Beginning the day, Alex Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside
Lutheran) dropped the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 7-5 to Jeff Smith.
The No. 2 singles match resulted in Mike Reimer (Sheboygan,
Wis./South) falling 6-3, 6-1 to Thien Van. Steve Carran (Beaver
Dam, Wis./Luther Preparatory) was defeated by Alex Tarullo 6-3, 6-1
in No. 3 singles, while Tim Staffeld knocked off Joseph Workman
(McLean, Va./Langley) 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Josh Wingfield
ended the singles competition by beating Jon Jossart (Brookfield,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) 6-1, 6-3.
Allister and Reimer were defeated in No. 1 doubles by Smith and
Van 8-4. In No. 2 doubles action, Workman and Carran were downed
8-6 by Tarullo and Wingfield.
Wisconsin Lutheran's (0-4, 0-4 NAC) next opponent will be
Lakeland College on Wednesday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m. at the
Princeton Club.
