NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's tennis team was defeated by the Lakeland College
Muskies 8-1 on Wednesday in a Northern Athletics Conference dual
match at the Princeton Club.
Junior Alex Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) was
credited with WLC's lone match victory of the afternoon after he
downed Lakeland's Jacob Halvorsen, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Yuki
Shiono topped WLC senior Steve Carran (Beaver Dam, Wis./Luther
Preparatory) at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-2. In No. 3 singles action,
senior Jon Jossart (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) fell 6-2,
6-0 to David May. The Muskies' Dane Maier defeated freshman Kaleb
Buch (Manitowoc, Wis./Lutheran) 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. LC's Tom
Kuehl and Carlos Millan won by default at No. 5 and 6 singles,
respectively.
In doubles play, the tandem of Allister and Carran lost 8-2 to
Halvorsen and May at No. 1. Jossart and Buch partnered at No. 2 and
fell 8-0 to Shiono and Maier. Kuehl and Millan won at No. 3 by
default for Lakeland (4-2, 7-8 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-5, 0-5 NAC) hosts NAC matches against
Aurora University and Rockford College on Saturday at the Princeton
Club. The dual with the Spartans begins at 10 a.m., while the
Regents will follow at 2 p.m.
