NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's tennis team was topped by the Aurora University
Spartans 7-2 on Sunday in the Warriors' final NAC dual match of the
2010 regular season at the Princeton Club.
The day began at No. 1 singles where Aurora's Daniel Micun
defeated WLC senior Alex Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside
Lutheran) 6-3, 6-3. Fellow senior Steve Carran (Beaver Dam,
Wis./Luther Preparatory) picked up the Warriors' lone singles match
win at No. 2 by defeating John Dudley 7-5, 6-0.
The Spartans (1-9, 1-7 NAC) took the final four flights of
singles action as Clay Trautman downed senior Joseph Workman
(McLean, Va./Langley) 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Senior Jon Jossart
(Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) was defeated by AU's Juan
Padilla 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. At No. 5, freshman Kaleb Buch
(Manitowoc, Wis./Lutheran) lost a hard-fought 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 bout
to David Grey. Zach Davis of Aurora won the final singles match by
default.
Allister and Carran partnered at No. 1 doubles to defeat Micun
and Dudley, 8-4. Andrew Price and Trautman were victorious over
Buch and Jossart, 8-1, while AU's Grey and Padilla won at No. 3
doubles by default.
Wisconsin Lutheran will next compete in the 2010 Northern
Athletics Conference Men's Tennis Championship May 8-9 at Moorland
Park Tennis Center in New Berlin, Wis.
