BOSTON, Mass. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's soccer team scored early and often en route to a 6-0
shutout victory over the Wildcats of Wheelock College on Friday
night at Winsor Field.
Wisconsin Lutheran got on the board at the 11:26 mark of the
opening half on an unassisted goal by sophomore Krystal Weishaar
(Westfield, Wis./Montello). Freshman Niki DiSalvo (Waterford,
Wis./Waterford) followed with the first of her three goals off of a
pass from Kate Wilson (Machesney Park, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) in
the 23rd minute. Ten minutes later, sophomore Meghan Goetzinger
(Ottawa, Ontario/Luther Preparatory) fed the ball through to
DiSalvo for her second score. Wisconsin Lutheran, which led 3-0 at
the half, outshot the host Wildcats 13-3 in the opening period.
DiSalvo once again did not take long to find the back of the
net, scoring just three minutes into the second half. Freshman Cari
Westover (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) assisted on the goal. Late in the
second half, Westover scored a goal of her own assisted by
sophomore Aubrey Breuckman (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) in the
81st minute. Seven minutes later, Weishaar found the back of the
net again on a rebound off her own shot.
The Warriors finished with 29 shots in the game, while holding
Wheelock (0-3) to just six attempts. DiSalvo had a game-high nine
shots with five on goal. Senior Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska
Lutheran), who made one save, played all 90 minutes to pickup her
first shutout of the season.
