FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team coasted to its third straight conference victory Sunday morning after sweeping Marian 9-0 at Center Court Tennis Club.
The Warriors won with ease in their opening doubles matches as Lee Johnson (Hales Corners, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Zach Birner (Neenah, Wis./Luther Preparatory) cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 1. Ryan Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis./West) and Derek Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis./West) won 8-1 at No. 2, and Adam Breister (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and Austin Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) were victorious by default as MU could not field a No. 3 doubles team.
WLC continued to dominate singles play as the Sabres (0-5, 0-5 NACC) won only two games. After Johnson started things off at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win, Ryan Sallmann, Birner, and Derek Sallmann each collected 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at No. 2 through No. 4, respectively. Breister was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 5, and David Parez (Milwaukee, Wis./Thomas More) won by default at No. 6.
The Warriors (6-8, 3-1 NACC) have off until next Saturday when they travel to River Forest, Ill., for two NACC matches against Dominican (2-6, 2-2 NACC) and Concordia Chicago (2-2, 2-2 NACC) at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
