Top-Seeded Eagles Top Warriors In NACC Semifinals

MADISON, Wis. – The fourth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team was defeated 5-0 by top-seeded Edgewood Saturday in the 2015 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinals at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

The Eagles (16-10, 8-0 NACC) won all three doubles matches over the Warriors to begin play by scores of 8-4, 8-4, and 8-6, respectively.

Edgewood needed just two wins in singles play to clinch the match and they came first from Patrick Lagman at No. 2 over Zach Birner (Neenah, Wis /Luther Preparatory) 6-1, 6-0, and at No. 4 as Michael Wanta defeated Adam Breister (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) 6-0, 6-0. Matches at No. 1, 3, 5, and 6 singles went unfinished.

The Eagles would later defeat second-seeded MSOE 5-1 to claim their first conference championship.

The Warriors finish their season 6-11 overall and 4-4 in conference play. WLC graduates three seniors as Breister, Jeremy Vanderhyde (Aurora, Colo./Rocky Mountain Lutheran), and Lee Johnson (Hales Corners, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) finished their Warriors tennis careers.
