Vikings Hand Warriors Non-Conference Setback

APPLETON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team was dealt a 9-0 non-conference loss by Lawrence on Friday night at Fox Cities Racquet Club. LU improved to 4-1, while WLC fell to 0-2 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Vikings swept through doubles play to open the match, winning by scores 8-1 and 8-2 before Paul Fitzgerald (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) and John Lewinski (Streamwood, Ill./Walther Lutheran) battled at No. 3 before falling 8-4.
• LU also claimed straight set victories in each of the six singles flights. The Warriors' closest matches came at No. 1 and No. 5 where Derek Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis./West) and Fitzgerald each dropped 6-3, 6-3 decisions, respectively.

UP NEXT

• Wisconsin Lutheran hosts Calvin (0-0) in more non-conference action next Saturday at 5 p.m. at Elite Sports Club in Glendale. It'll be the Warriors' first of six home matches this season.
