Cornell Sweeps Wisconsin Lutheran Sunday On The Road

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team suffered an 9-0 non-conference loss to Cornell on Sunday afternoon at Cornell College. The Warriors dropped to 0-7 on the season, while Cornell improved to 8-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Rams took control of the matchup early by taking the first three doubles matches. In No. 1 doubles, Derek Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis./West) and Zach Birner (Neenah, Wis./Luther Preparatory) fought tough, before dropping the set 8-5. The Rams then took the next two matches, holding a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
  • Cornell put the contest away in singles competition, sweeping the first four matches in straight sets and then winning the final two by default.

UP NEXT

  • Wisconsin Lutheran will next host Ripon (0-8) in its final non-conference match on Tuesday, March 29. The Red Hawks are coming off of a 9-0 loss against Calvin on March 4.
