Men's Tennis Drops Non-Conference Finale

MANKATO, Minn. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team fell to the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran 5-4 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at BLC Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Vikings jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The Warriors took their only match during doubles play at No. 2 when Cedric Guichard (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) and Zach Birner (Neenah, Wis. /Luther Preparatory) defeated Jordan Poff and Robbie Stevens, 8-3. 
• The Warriors dominated the first portion of singles play as Derek Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis./West) (6-2, 6-1), Birner (6-1, 1-6, 10-6), and Ben Wordell (Lake Mills, Wis./Christian Academy Japan) (6-2, 7-6) all picked up victories for WLC.
• However, the host Vikings won the final three singles matches at No, 4, 5, and 6 to claim the match. Three of the Vikings' victories in the match came via forfeit.

• The Warriors return to NACC action on Wednesday when they host conference rival Concordia Wisconsin (13-6, 4-0 NACC).
