Warriors Fall Short Against First-Place Falcons

WAUWATOSA, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team fell in its NACC matchup against conference-leading Concordia Wisconsin 8-1 on Wednesday night at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Falcons took all three doubles matches from the Warriors to start the match. Benjamin Nommensen and Brad Guendel defeated WLC's Derek Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis./West) and Ben Wordell (Lake Mills, Wis./Christian Academy Japan) at No. 1, 8-5. 
• Zach Birner (Neenah, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and Paul Fitzgerald (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) fell to Christian Docter and Ceejay Schaffner, 8-3. 
• In the final doubles match, Trevor Budewitz and Jonah Fowle defeated Cedric Guichard (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) and Ryan Eastman (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), 8-3. 
• The Warriors won the No. 1 singles match where Sallmann defeated Nommensen 7-6, 7-5 for the only victory for the Warriors on the night. 
• Concordia Wisconsin's Docter narrowly defeated Birner in three sets at No. 2, 6-4, 6-7, 11-9. 
• The Falcons would go on to win the No. 3, 4, 5, and 6 singles matches and take the match 8-1.

• The Warriors return to the courts next Wednesday when they host Lakeland (0-9, 0-4 NACC).
