Raiders Double-Up Warriors In NACC Lid-Lifter

BROOKFIELD, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to MSOE in its NACC opener on Friday afternoon at Elite Sports Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Raiders held a slim 2-1 lead after the opening doubles matches. The Warriors were led by the No. 2 doubles team of Zach Birner (Neenah, Wis./Luther Preparatory) and Paul Fitzgerald (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls), who scored an 8-5 victory.
  • In singles play, the Warriors took two of the first three to even the score at 3-3 before MSOE took the final three to claim the match.
  • Birner rallied at No. 2 after dropping the opening set 4-6 to win the next two by scores of 6-4, 6-0. Ben Wordell (Lake Mills, Wis./Christian Academy Japan) followed suit and won in convincing fashion, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3.

UP NEXT

  • Wisconsin Lutheran returns to NACC play on Saturday night when it hosts Aurora (0-2, 0-0 NACC) at the Princeton Club in New Berlin at 7:00 p.m. The Spartans are coming off of a 9-0 defeat against Judson on March 21. They will play MSOE before their match against the Warriors.
