Men's Tennis Drops Two Outdoors On Saturday

WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference matches to host Carroll and Saint Mary's (Minn.) on Saturday in unseasonably warm temperatures outside at Carroll's Jean Kilgour Tennis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Pioneers opened the morning match with three wins over the Warriors in doubles play, including third doubles by default.
  • CU went onto win all six singles matches in straight sets, including No. 6 by default. The Warriors' closest match of the morning came at No. 4 singles where Matt Plaski (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) dropped a tight 6-4, 6-3 decision to Carroll's Adam Piontek.
  • In the Warriors' matinee match against the Cardinals, they dropped all three doubles flights by scores of 8-2, 8-3, and by default.
  • Senior Derek Sallmann (Waukesha, Wis./West) won his second match of the season for WLC at No. 1 singles, defeating Saint Mary's' Brenden Amiotte 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9). SMU went onto win the final five singles flights, as WLC couldn't muster more than two points in any flight.

UP NEXT

  • The Warriors play their first two home matches of the season next weekend, hosting Dubuque (4-0) on Saturday and Lake Forest (3-2) on Sunday. Both matches will be played indoors at Elite Sports Club in Brookfield.
