Warriors Celebrate Homecoming, Seniors With Rout Of Regents

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team celebrated Homecoming and its four seniors with a 5-0 rout of Rockford on Saturday afternoon at Warriors Soccer Field. It was the Warriors' 12th straight win over the Regents in the series.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (4-12-1, 3-8-1 NACC), Rockford (3-12-0, 2-10-0 NACC)
• Location: Warriors Soccer Field, Wauwatosa, Wis.

• Senior Miriam Carreno (San Antonio, Texas) netted the first two Warriors' goals in the 16th and 19th minutes of the first half for an early 2-0 lead. The goals were assisted by freshman Xiomara Garcia (Milwaukee, Wis.) and senior Maggie Stebbins (Beaver Dam, Wis.). 
• Junior Katie Wasiak (Muskego, Wis.) made it a three-goal margin in the 22nd minute with her fifth goal of the year assisted by freshman Ella Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
• Sophomore Signe Kind (Fort Atkinson, Wis) capped off a dominant first half of scoring in the 39th minute with her second goal of the season.
• Stebbins recorded the only goal of the second half in the 76th minute on an assist from junior Desareih Juarez (Waukegan, Ill.) as the final score read 5-0.
• Sophomore Sierra Kannas (Watertown, S.D.) and freshman Brandee Dewar (Flint, Mich.) combined for the shutout in goal, with Kannas making five saves.
• WLC held a 28-9 advantage over the Regents in the shot count and had the upper hand in corner kicks, 6-2.
• Wisconsin Lutheran honored its four seniors at halftime of the match. They included Carreno, Stebbins, Osiris Leon (Elgin, Ill.), and Gabi Tomlin (Lannon, Wis.).
