HARTLAND, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team picked up three wins in singles play, but it was too late as the Warriors dropped their season opener to Carroll, 6-3, in non-conference action on Saturday.

- The Pioneers posted victories in all three doubles matches to start the contest. Freshmen Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) and Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) fell 8-6 in a hard-fought match at No. 3 doubles.
- Carroll didn't drop a game in either of the first two singles matches, but the Warriors didn't go away easily.
- After freshman Quinn Wedel (Wauwatosa, Wis.) battled but fell 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3, WLC collected a trio of straight set wins from Halvorsen (6-1, 6-4), Kannenberg (6-4, 6-2), and sophomore Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) (6-2, 6-2) at No. 4 through No. 6.
- Carroll's Lucas Nay was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles and he teamed with Brian Trefliek for an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
- The Warriors are back in action less than a week from today when they face Carroll for a second non-conference match. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, March 5 at the Princeton Club in New Berlin.
