Men's Tennis Drops Close Match To Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 non-conference match to the Dubuque Spartans on Saturday afternoon inside the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center. The Warriors' four match wins are their most of the season.

  • The Spartans took two of the three matches to start doubles play, with the Warriors duo of sophomore Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) and sophomore Stu Woller (Mount Horeb, Wis.) winning 8-5 at doubles No. 3 to improve to 2-1 on the season.
  • Freshman Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) picked up his first win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
  • Freshman Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and Hennen won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Kannenberg, who improved his record to 3-1, won 6-2, 6-4, while Hennen won 6-2, 6-0 to also improve to 3-1.

  • Josh Husemann and Devon Gerber won at No. 1 doubles 8-2 for Dubuque. Husemann also won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Spartans.

  • The Warriors close out their non-conference slate against St. Scholastica (2-2) on Wednesday. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at Brookfield East High School.
