WLC Falls In NACC Opener To Muskies

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team opened its NACC slate against Lakeland on Saturday afternoon. The Muskies won 6-3 over the Warriors at Helfaer Tennis Stadium and Recreation Center.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (1-4, 0-1 NACC), Lakeland (1-2, 1-1 NACC)
• Location: Helfaer Tennis Stadium and Recreation Center, Milwaukee, Wis.

• The Muskies took two of the three doubles matches to begin the day. The Warriors picked up a win at No. 2 doubles with the duo of freshmen Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) and Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) winning 8-3 for their first win of the season. At No. 1 doubles, freshman Ryan Crick (Onalaska, Wis.) and freshman Quinn Wedel (Wauwatosa, Wis.) fell 8-3.
• In singles play, Lakeland picked up wins at each of the top three singles spots. Nick Larson beat Crick 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and Jacob Larson defeated Wedel 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. WLC got wins from Kannenberg at No. 4 singles and sophomore Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) at No. 5 singles. Kannenberg won his fourth singles match of the season 6-0, 6-4 and Hennen also won his fourth 6-1, 6-0.

• Nick Larson and Jacob Larson won at No. 1 doubles for the Muskies (8-3) with each winning their singles match 6-1, 6-1 and 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

• The Warriors are back in action next Saturday when they host NACC opponent Illinois Tech (2-0, 2-0 NACC).
