Warriors Net First NACC Win Sunday Over Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team snapped a six-match losing streak on Sunday with a convincing 8-1 NACC dual win over Marian at Fond du Lac High School. It was the Warriors' seventh win over the Sabres in their last eight meetings.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (2-7, 1-4 NACC), Marian (0-5, 0-5 NACC)
• Location: Fond du Lac High School, Fond du Lac, Wis.

• The Warriors picked up a pair of 8-1 wins in doubles play over the Sabres, with a third coming via a default. Freshmen Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) and Quinn Wedel (Wauwatosa, Wis.) won for the second time this season at No. 1, while freshmen Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) also won at No. 2 for their second victory.
• Kannenberg (6-2, 6-1), Wedel (6-2, 6-2), and Halvorsen (6-1, 6-0) also collected singles wins at No. 2 through No. 4 in straight sets. The win by Kannenberg was his team-leading sixth singles triumph of the season.
• Wisconsin Lutheran also won No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default.

• Marian's lone win of the day came at No. 1 singles where Kyle Leisses picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win.

• The Warriors play their final NACC regular season dual next Saturday when they host Dominican (1-4, 1-4 NACC). First serve is set for 10 a.m. at the Princeton Club in New Berlin.
