Warriors Wrap Up NACC Slate With Win Over Stars

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team won its second consecutive match after winning 7-2 against Dominican on Saturday morning at the Princeton Club. The Warriors clinched the fifth seed in next week's NACC Tournament with the victory.

• Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (3-7, 2-4 NACC), Dominican (1-5, 1-5 NACC)

• The Warriors swept Dominican in doubles play, with freshmen Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) and Quinn Wedel (Wauwatosa, Wis.) winning for the third time this season at No. 1 by a score of 8-4. At No. 2, freshmen Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) won 8-3, and sophomores Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) and Stu Woller (Mount Horeb, Wis.) won at No. 3, 8-2. It was also the third win of the year for WLC's No. 2 and No. 3 duo.
• After the Stars took home wins at the top two singles spots, Wisconsin Lutheran collected wins at No. 3 through No. 6 singles in straight sets. Kannanberg won his seventh singles match of the season, while Wedel won at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Halvorsen won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5, and Hennen won at the No. 6 spot by scores of 6-0, 6-1.

• Dominican's Diego Martinez and Joshua Sapnu won at No. 1 (6-0, 6-3) and No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-3), respectively, for the Stars' only two wins of the day.

• The Warriors clinched the fifth seed in the NACC Tournament and will travel to fourth-seeded Lakeland (3-4, 3-3 NACC) on Monday for a first round matchup. First serve is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Sports Core in Kohler.
