WLC Falls To Top-Seeded Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - The fifth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team saw its 2021 season come to an end in the NACC Tournament Semifinal against top-seeded Illinois Tech on Thursday night. The Scarlet Hawks defeated the Warriors 5-0 at XS-Tennis Center.

  • The Scarlet Hawks, the NACC's lone unbeaten team, won all three doubles matches over the Warriors. WLC's top team of freshmen Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) and Quinn Wedel (Wauwatosa, Wis.) fell 8-2 at No. 1. IIT won at No. 2 and No. 3 by scores of 8-0.
  • Illinois Tech claimed two wins in singles play at No. 1 and No. 6 by 6-1, 6-0 scores to win the match over Wisconsin Lutheran.
  • Matches at No. 2 through No. 5 singles went unfinished.

  • Alann Torres of Illinois Tech won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while he and teammate Nabil Fawaz won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.

  • The Warriors finish their 2021 season with a record of 4-8 overall and a 2-4 mark in the NACC. WLC made its seventh NACC Tournament appearance and won its first postseason match since 2016.
