Warriors Collect First-Ever Win Over Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team opened its 2021-2022 dual slate with a 6-3 non-conference win over Carroll on Wednesday afternoon at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex. It marked the Warriors' first-ever win over the Pioneers in 11 previous matches.

  • The Warriors earned a win at No. 1 doubles with senior Evan Sadowski (New Berlin, Wis.) and freshman Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) teaming up for the first time for an 8-1 win.
  • The Pioneers posted wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, as sophomores Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) and Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) dropped a tight 8-7 (7-5) decision.
  • WLC controlled singles play, winning five of six flights to take the match.
  • Sadowski was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles, Newberg blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Kannenberg claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
  • Freshman Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles, and Bass posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6.
  • The win was Wisconsin Lutheran's first over Carroll in 11 previous meetings.
