MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team concluded its first weekend of the spring season with two non-conference wins on Sunday in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The Warriors knocked off host Cornell 5-4 in their first match before doubling up Dubuque 6-3 inside the Small Sport Center Arena. The victories were WLC's first-ever over both the Rams and Spartans in their fifth meetings all-time.

- The host Rams took the first two doubles matches from the Warriors, before the No. 3 team of sophomores Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) collected an 8-2 win.
- WLC was victorious at four of the six singles flights, starting at No. 2 where freshman Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) earned a three-set win by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. Freshman Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) picked up another three-set win at No. 3 by scores of 6-7, 6-4, 10-7. Sophomore Matt Bass (Village of Lakewood, Ill.) added yet another three-set win at No. 5 by a final of 2-6, 6-3, 10-7. Halvorsen recorded a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6.
- The Warriors won two of three doubles matches over the Spartans to start their second match of the day. The duos of Newberg and White and Kannenberg and Bass were identical 8-5 winners at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
- WLC took care of business in singles play by winning four matches. White was a 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 winner at No. 2, Kannenberg collected a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3, Bass posted a 6-0, 7-6 victory at No. 4, and freshman Mason Wolf (Oconomowoc, Wis.) won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6
- The Warriors will next host Calvin (1-1) on Thursday at 8 p.m. in a non-conference match at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club in Jackson.
