Warriors Roll Past Red Hawks For Fourth Straight Win

JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Thursday night, defeating Ripon 7-2 in a non-conference dual at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club. The win was also the Warriors' fourth straight over the Red Hawks in their series.

  • The Warriors began the night by taking two of the three doubles contests from the Red Hawks. Freshmen Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) and Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) paired for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) collected an 8-6 victory at No. 2.
  • WLC moved onto singles competition where it won five of the six singles bouts. Senior Evan Sadowski (New Berlin, Wis.) shutout his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Newberg was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 2, while White battled for a three-set (6-3, 4-6, 10-5) win at No. 3. Kannenberg collected a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 4, and Halvorsen took care of business at No. 6 by winning 6-4, 6-2.

  • The Warriors are off until Sunday, March 6 when they host Loras (1-3). The non-conference match begins at 9 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club in Jackson.
