Carthage Halts Warriors' Winning Streak

KENOSHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak snapped on Tuesday afternoon, falling to non-conference powerhouse Carthage 8-1 at Smeds Tennis Center. 

  • Final Score: Carthage 8, Wisconsin Lutheran 1
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (9-7), Carthage (20-1)
  • Location: Smeds Tennis Center, Kenosha, Wis.

  • The Firebirds won all three doubles matches over the Warriors to take control early in the match.
  • Carthage carried its momentum into singles play, winning five of the six singles contests. Sophomore Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) was narrowly defeated in a tough three-set match (6-1, 6-7, 10-8) at No. 4. Junior Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) won his fifth singles match of the season at No. 6 by a score of 6-1, 6-3.

  • The Warriors play another non-conference match one week from today against Carroll (1-10) at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex in Waukesha.
