Wisconsin Lutheran Tops St. Norbert In NACC First Round

JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The fourth-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College men's tennis team earned a 5-3 victory over fifth-seeded St. Norbert on Tuesday in a NACC Tournament First Round match at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club. The Warriors advance to Saturday's NACC Tournament Semifinal for the second straight season where they will meet top-seeded Illinois Tech.

• The Warriors took a 2-1 lead over the Green Knights through doubles play in the first-to-five tournament format. Senior Evan Sadowski (New Berlin, Wis.) and sophomore Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) blanked their opponents 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) and freshman Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) teamed for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Junior Josh Hennen (Slinger, Wis.) and sophomore Bryce Halvorsen (Fredonia, Wis.) dropped a tight 8-7 (8-6) decision at No. 3 doubles. 
• Sadowski started singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 1, Newberg netted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2, and Hennen clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles. SNC won matches at No. 4 and No. 5 singles and the contest at No. 3 singles went unfinished.

• The fourth-seeded Warriors travel to face top-seeded Illinois Tech (9-8, 7-0 NACC) on Saturday in a NACC Tournament Semifinal match. First serve is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at XS Tennis in Chicago. The Scarlet Hawks defeated WLC 9-0 in their only meeting of the season on April 23.
