WLC Lands 10 All-NACC Honors For 2025 Football Season

Handwork, Martin, and Mears earn First Team recognition

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College was well represented on the 2025 All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference football teams, as 10 Warriors earned postseason recognition from the league on Thursday.

Senior linebacker Layson Handwork (Merritt Island, Fla.), senior defensive back Connor Martin (Chino, Calif.), and senior punter Drew Mears (Appleton, Wis.) were each named First Team All-NACC. Handwork led the Warriors with 74.0 total tackles, including 13.0 tackles for loss. He also added 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery. This is Handwork's third career NACC postseason award. Martin led WLC with three interceptions and eight pass break-ups, while adding 25.0 total tackles, a sack, fumble recovery, and blocked kick. This is Martin's second career NACC postseason award. Mears was the NACC's top punter, averaging 41.3 yards per punt, while landing 15 punts inside the opponents 20-yard line. This is Mears' first career NACC postseason award.

Four Warriors collected Second Team All-NACC accolades, including senior tight end Colin Amack (Menomonee Falls, Wis.), senior wide receiver Jamil Gordon (San Marcos, Texas), sophomore running back Liam Heiges (Appleton, Wis.), and sophomore offensive lineman Nate Nash (Wildomar, Calif.). Amack caught eight passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. This is Amack's first career NACC postseason award. Gordon led Wisconsin Lutheran with 42 receptions for 429 yards and tied for the team lead with four touchdown receptions. This is Gordon's third career NACC postseason award. Heiges led the Warriors with 148 carries, 808 yards, and a school-record 12 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. This is Heiges' second career NACC postseason award. Nash paved the way for a school-record 24 rushing touchdowns. This is Nash's second career NACC postseason.

Three more Warriors received NACC Honorable Mention, including sophomore defensive back Sam Ehlke (Jackson, Wis.), graduate linebacker Nathan Nevad (Merritt Island, Fla.), and senior offensive lineman Marshall Palmer (Collinsville, Okla.). Ehlke was second on the team with 47.0 tackles and two interceptions. He also added two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick. This is Ehlke's first NACC postseason award. Nevad finished with 42.0 tackles, including 3.0 tackles for loss, two interceptions, two pass break-ups, and two blocked kicks. This is Nevad's second career NACC postseason award. Palmer, who played on both sides of the football, recorded 9.0 tackles and a sack, and help pave the way for a school-record 24 rushing touchdowns. This is Palmer's first career NACC postseason award.

WLC finished its 2025 campaign 5-5 overall and 5-3 in the NACC, clinching consecutive winning NACC seasons for the first time since 2015–2016.
