Warriors' Spring Season Opens With Loss To Loras

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team opened its 2017 spring season with an 8-0 defeat against Loras on Saturday morning in non-conference action at Elite Sports Club.

THE BASICS

  • Final Score: Loras 8, Wisconsin Lutheran 0
  • Records: Wisconsin Lutheran (5-9), Loras (8-7) 
  • Location: Elite Sports Club, Brookfield, Wis.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Duhawks won all three doubles matches to start the match by scores of 8-3, 8-1, and 8-4. At No. 3 doubles, Kendra Bergmann (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and Taylor Bergmann (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) came the closest for the Warriors in their 8-4 defeat.
  • Paige Potaracke (La Crosee, Wis./Luther) dropped a tough No. 1 singles match in three sets, 1-6, 7-6, and 0-1 (7-10). 
  • Loras went on to close out the match by winning the final four matches in straight sets. The No. 5 singles match with WLC's Hannah Gerbing (Pewaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and the Duhawks' Ayla Graziano went unfinished.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • The Warriors fall to 0-3 all-time against the Duhawks.

UP NEXT

  • The Warriors will travel to Arizona over spring break to play a pair of exhibition matches. WLC concludes its spring season in three weeks when it hosts Beloit (0-14) on March 25 at Elite Sports Club.
