Warriors Open Indoor Slate In Whitewater With Record, PRs

WHITEWATER, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened its indoor season on Saturday afternoon at the Karl Schlender Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater. The Warriors broke one school record and achieved 13 personal bests at the non-team scoring season opener. It was the first meet for first-year head coach Eric Kramer and his squad.

  • Event: Karl Schlender Invitational
  • Final Results: No Team Scores
  • Location: Williams Center, Whitewater, Wis.

  • Sophomore Madeleine Steber (Green Bay, Wis.) finished second in the 400-meter dash, clocking in with a time of 1:07.86. She also placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 11.06.
  • Senior Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.) opened her senior season with a personal-best and school record time in the 600-meter run, finishing with a time of 1:47.34 for third place.
  • Junior Kaylyn Shevey (Muskego, Wis.) leaped 4.86 meters in the long jump, good for fourth place. She also posted a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.96.
  • Junior Jenna Schmitz (Fox Lake, Wis.) had a personal best performance in the triple jump, with a mark of 9.77 meters, good for seventh place.
  • Senior Adam Pagel (Kenosha, Wis.) opened his season with personal best marks in the weight throw and shot put, with tosses of 11.60 meters and 10.90 meters, finishing fifth and 11th, respectively.
  • Senior Elijah Tesch (Sun Prairie, Wis.) ran a personal-best time of 1:29.80 in the 600-meter run finishing sixth.

  • "It was a great first meet! Becca highlights it with a new school record, but it was a solid opener for the few athletes we did have compete. 13 PR's and a school record with only 11 athletes competing is always a great way to start. I'm looking forward to the entire team opening up next week at Platteville." - Head Coach Eric Kramer

  • The Warriors will compete next Saturday at the Pioneer Open hosted by UW-Platteville. Events are scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. inside Williams Fieldhouse.
