WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College finished third out of 10 teams with 82 points on Saturday at the Warrior Invitational at Raabe Stadium.
Freshman
Maddie Metz (Chino Valley, Ariz.) highlighted the day with a first-place finish in the 5000m, clocking a personal-best 19:09.99 to claim the event title. Senior
Sylvia Walentowski (Neenah, Wis.) added a runner-up finish in the 3000m Steeplechase (14:03.81), while freshman
Lucy Luedtke (Marshfield, Wis.) earned a second-place finish in the 400m Hurdles (1:13.61) with a personal best.
Senior
Leah Schmidt (Bonduel, Wis.) led the way with a pair of runner-up finishes in the field events, taking second in both the Discus (37.52m) and Javelin (41.62m), while also adding a fourth-place showing in the Shot Put (10.58m). Sophomore
Aubrey Kadolph (Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded a third-place finish in the Javelin (26.41m).
Junior
Marin Schibbelhut (Onalaska, Wis.)Â placed fifth in the High Jump, clearing 1.35m.
In the 400m, junior
Madelyn Vanderhoof (Watertown, Wis.) (1:06.59) and sophomore
Amelia Kelley (Appleton, Wis.) (1:07.51) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, with personal bests. Schibbelhut added an eighth-place finish in the 100m Hurdles (18.43) with a personal best. Junior
Madelyn Beyer (Appleton, Wis.) was eighth in the 800m (2:37.83).
In the Pole Vault, Kelley finished seventh with a personal best (2.75m) and freshman
Taylor Favorite (Appleton, Wis.) took eighth (2.60m). Freshman
Audra Kopfer (Columbus, Wis.) added a seventh-place finish in the Shot Put (9.71m).
The Warriors' relays also factored into the team score. The 4x400m Relay team of Luedtke, Beyer, Vanderhoof, and sophomore
Kirstin Neuwirth (New Berlin, Wis.) placed third (4:33.79), while the 4x100m Relay team of Vanderhoof, freshman
Jaci Volp (Fremont, Wis.), Kelley, and Favorite finished fourth (56.04).
Marquette scored 214 points to win the 10-team scoring title.
WLC competes in a pair of meets next weekend, the Drake Alternative on Friday in Whitewater and the St. Norbert Invitational on Saturday in De Pere.
