LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Senior Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.) won the 200m in a school-record time of 24.44 seconds on Friday at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Meet. Her finishing time ranks sixth in NCAA Division III less than two weeks out from the national championships.
- Event: UW-La Crosse Eagle Meet
- Final Results: No Team Scores
- Location: Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, La Crosse, Wis.
- Schumacher won the 200m in 24.44 seconds, breaking her previous record by .29 seconds from just one week ago. She topped the 17-competitor field for her 12th event win of the season. Schumacher moves from 10th up to sixth in the event in NCAA Divison III with the new mark.
- Schumacher also finished second out of 10 in the 100m with a time of 12.24 seconds, just .09 seconds off her own school record from a week ago.
- Senior Sam Boone (Mindoro, Wis.) competed in the 400 meters and raced to a time of 51.76 seconds for 11th place.
- "We had a plan for Kendra to run a better 100 and then just run the 200 to stay fresh in it before nationals. Then the 100 didn't go as planned, so we changed to chase a PR in the 200. To run that time with it raining the entire race is pretty impressive! Sam also ran a great 400 to close out his career. Overall, a successful trip still have some work to do." - Head Coach Eric Kramer
- Schumacher and the Warriors compete again tomorrow at the John Kruchoski Open hosted by UW-Whitewater. Events are scheduled to start at 12 p.m. at Rex Foster Track.
