KENOSHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Senior Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.) set school records in both the 55m and 200m en route to winning both events on Saturday at the Firebird Opener hosted by Carthage. The Warriors finished eighth with 32 points at the season-opening event.

- Location: Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center, Kenosha, Wis.
- Schumacher won the 55m in a time of 7.31 seconds, besting the previous school record of 7.49 seconds from 2015. She also topped the 40-sprinter field in the 200m in 25.94 seconds, besting her previous school-record time of 26.35 seconds from 2020.
- Junior Brooke Graesslin (Janesville, Wis.) finished third in the 800m, posting a time of 2:34.12 in the field of 12 runners.
- Junior Grace Weide (Waterford, Wis.) also took home a third-place finish in the 55m Hurdles with a time of 9.21 seconds.
- "Anytime you go into your first meet of the season during J-term, you have to set your goals a little different because you're missing a majority of your team and it's early. If this meet is an indicator of how the season and training is going to go, we're in for a big year! Kendra starting where she left off last year is great and setting two school records is icing on the cake. Michael also proved with his own record in the shot put his work in the weight room in the offseason has paid off. We had a total of 22 PR's and three school records in a meet where we only had 17 athletes compete. I can't wait for the rest of our team to get back from break and join us!" - Head Coach Eric Kramer
