Schumacher Secures Program's First All-American Accolade

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College's Kendra Schumacher (Little Chute, Wis.) became the first athlete in program history to achieve All-American status after she finished fourth in the 200m Final on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at JDL Fast Track.

Schumacher, who posted the top time of 24.88 seconds in the 200m preliminaries on Friday, finished fourth overall in the 200m Final on Saturday to earn All-American honors. Running out of lane five in heat two, Schumacher sprinted to a finishing time of 24.96 seconds to place fourth among the eight event finalists. Schumacher, who inked her name on six indoor school records and two NACC records this season, is the first Warriors track & field athlete to achieve All-American status.

"She did it!" said third-year head coach Eric Kramer. "After so many close calls in school history, Kendra finally earned the program's first All-American award. She battled this weekend and proved she belongs at the national championship meet. I'm so proud of her and what she accomplished this entire indoor season. I'm looking forward to enjoying this moment then beginning preparations for the outdoor season."

Schumacher and the Warriors turn their attention to the outdoor portion of their schedule, which starts next Saturday, March 19 with the Meet For Milwaukee at Raabe Stadium.
