MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College's
Ali Schmidt (Germantown, Wis.) and
Joelle Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) have been named to the All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Singles Team, as the 2024 Women's Tennis Awards were announced on Wednesday by the NACC. This marks the fifth straight year that multiple Warriors have received All-NACC Singles honors.
Schmidt, a senior, went 5-4 in NACC play at No. 1 singles to earn her second career All-NACC Singles award. WLC's number one singles player is 7-4 overall, ranking second on the team for singles victories. Schmidt wrapped up the fall portion of the season winning six of her last seven matches. Three of her four conference defeats came in three-set tie-breaking fashion.
Smith, a freshman, finished NACC competition with a 6-3 record to pickup her first career All-NACCÂ Singles honor. Wisconsin Lutheran's number three singles player leads the team in singles wins with an 8-3 overall mark. Smith triumphed in six of her final seven fall matches. One of her three league setbacks was via a three-set tiebreak.Â
The Warriors (6-5, 5-4 NACC), who have qualified for their seventh straight NACC Tournament, resume competition in the spring.
