Kale Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) and freshman
Isaiah Schaser (Newburg, Wis.) tied for eighth overall to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to a fifth-place team finish at the WLC Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Washington County Golf Course.
The Warriors placed fifth in the 14-team tournament field with a two-round total of 310-297--607. WLC's second round score (+9) tied for fourth in program history, while its two-round +31 also tied for fourth in the program record book.
Gnewikow and Schaser tied for eighth in the 80-player finishing field with a 148 (+4), good for fifth all-time. Gnewikow carded rounds of 76-72, while Schaser fired 74-74.Â
Junior
Luke Capstran (Oak Creek, Wis.) tied for 25th with a 78-76--154, junior
Riley Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) tied for 32nd with a 82-75--157, and freshman
Mason Weigle (Dixon, Ill.) tied for 62nd with a 90-80--170.
Freshman
Brayden Bode (Oak Creek, Wis.) topped Wisconsin Lutheran's "B" team with a 75-86--161 for a 41st-place tie.
Carthage won the 14-team event with a two-round tournament score of 296-291--587. Nate Thomson of St. Norbert took home medalist honors with a three-under 70-71--141.Â
The Warriors return to the links on Friday and Saturday for the Midwest Region Fall Classic at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville.
