WAUKESHA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College delivered one of the top performances in program history after finishing seventh at the Morningstar Masters on Sunday and Monday at Morningstar Golfers Club.
The Warriors posted a 36-hole total of 604 (299-305), marking the second-lowest team score relative to par over 36 holes in program history. The 12-team, 69-player field featured a tight race at the top, as Aurora and Dubuque shared the team title at 570 (-6), but the Spartans won the outright title via a third tiebreaker.
Sophomore
Isaiah Schaser (Newburg, Wis.) led WLC with a standout performance, finishing 11th overall with an even-par 144 (71-73). His effort ranks as the second-lowest 36-hole total relative to par in program history.
Senior
Riley Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) added a tie for 25th place with a 151 (+7), carding rounds of 73 and 78. Junior
Alex Buckoski (Kaukauna, Wis.) placed tied for 34th at 153 (+9) with rounds of 79 and 74, while freshman
Braden Naumann (Hartland, Wis.) finished tied for 44th with a 156 (+12) (76-80). Senior
Luke Capstran (Oak Creek, Wis.) rounded out the lineup in 65th place at 166 (+22) with rounds of 84 and 82.
Wisconsin Lutheran's B team placed 11th with a total of 626 (312-314). Sophomore
Brycen Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) was the top finisher for the B squad, tying for 24th with a 150 (+6) after rounds of 72 and 78.
Aurora's George Proudman earned medalist honors with a 6-under-par 138 (70-68), edging a competitive field that featured 10 under-par finishers.
The Warriors will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Forester Spring Invitational, hosted at Countryside Golf Club in Mundelein, Illinois.
