MUNDELEIN, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College tied for ninth place at the Forester Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday, posting a 36-hole team score of 604 (+28) at Countryside Golf Club.
The Warriors opened the tournament with a 295 in Friday's first round before carding a 309 on Saturday to finish tied with MSOE in the 19-team field.
WLC was paced by senior
Riley Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.), who tied for 21st overall with a two-round score of 148 (+4). Tanzi fired an opening-round 70 (-2) before finishing with a 78 (+6).
Junior
Alex Buckoski (Kaukauna, Wis.) was next for Wisconsin Lutheran, tying for 34th with a 150 (+6) after rounds of 75 and 75. Sophomores
Isaiah Schaser (Newburg, Wis.) and
Brayden Bode (Oak Creek, Wis.), and freshman
Braden Naumann (Hartland, Wis.) each finished tied for 57th with matching totals of 154 (+10). Schaser posted a 74 and 80, Bode shot rounds of 76 and 78, and Naumann added rounds of 76 and 78.
Individually, senior
Luke Capstran (Oak Creek, Wis.) tied for 46th with a 152 (+8) after rounds of 75 and 77.
Aurora claimed the team title by six shots with a tournament score of 570 (-6), while AU's Christian Wakeford earned individual medalist honors by just one stroke in the 105-player field with a two-round 138 (-6).
The Warriors will conclude their season on Friday, May 1, when they compete in the Edgewood Spring Quadrangular at Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton.
