APPLETON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College earned a strong fourth-place finish out of seven teams at the 13th annual Gene Davis Invitational on Saturday at Reid Municipal Golf Course. The Warriors tallied 103 points.
Freshman
Calliope Horn (San Diego, Calif.) led WLC across the line, placing 28th overall in 25:03.4. She was followed closely by sophomore
Kirstin Neuwirth (New Berlin, Wis.) (31st, 25:13.1) and freshman
Maddie Metz (Chino Valley, Ariz.) (32nd, 25:14.6). Junior
Madelyn Beyer (Appleton, Wis.) finished 56th in 26:35.7, and junior
Rachel Homan (New Lisbon, Wis.) rounded out Wisconsin Lutheran's scoring five with a 27:05.7 performance for 61st place.
UW–Oshkosh claimed the team title with 36 points, edging out host Lawrence (48) and Carroll (81).
Individually, Dasha Vorontsov of Wisconsin Track Club captured the top spot in the 96-runner field with a winning time of 21:49.5 on the 6,000-meter course.
The Warriors continue their season next Saturday when they compete at the Private College Championship, hosted by Concordia Wisconsin in Mequon. The women's 6K race starts at 12 p.m.
