Luke Movrich (Appleton, Wis.) earned medalist honors to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to its first event win of the year on Saturday and Sunday at the Fighting Scots Spring Invitational hosted by Monmouth at Gibson Woods Golf Course.
The Warriors fired a 299-299—598 to win the 10-team tournament by nine strokes over runner-up Coe.
Movrich, who won his first career event, is the first Warrior to earn medalist honors at an event since teammate
Riley Tanzi won the Judson Spring Invitational a year ago. Movrich carded a 70-75—145 to finish atop the 65-player field by one shot over Matt Denhartigh of Aquinas. His opening round 70 was a career low while the second round 75 was a season low.
Junior
Riley Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) was fourth with a 76-71—147. His even-par 71 in the second round matched a career low. Senior
Kale Gnewikow (Warrens, Wis.) tied for seventh with a 77-75—152.
Freshman
Brayden Bode (Oak Creek, Wis.) tied for 16th with a 76-79—155 and freshman
Isaiah Schaser (Newburg, Wis.) tied for 33rd with an 84-78—162. Sophomore
Tim Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) tied for 26th to lead WLC's second squad. He carded an 82-77—159, including a career low on Sunday.
Wisconsin Lutheran is set to play two events this week, beginning Thursday with the Firebird Spring Invitational at Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine. Tee time is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
