JANESVILLE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College bounced back with a big second round to post a top-10 finish at the season-opening Culver's-Edgewood Fall Invitational played Friday and Saturday at Glen Erin Golf Club.
The Warriors tied for eighth in the 21-team field with a two-day total of 318-292--610. WLC jumped seven spots in the team standings by recording the fourth-lowest team round on Saturday, which was also good for third in program history.
Sophomore
Isaiah Schaser (Newburg, Wis.) tied for 20th in the 110-player field to lead the Warriors with a 81-68--149. Schaser's second round score of three-under par was not only good for a career low, but also the second lowest round of the tournament and in program history.Â
Senior
Luke Capstran (Oak Creek, Wis.), who carded a career low on Saturday, tied for 30th with a 78-73--151. Senior
Riley Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) tied for 44th with a 80-74--154, sophomore
Brayden Bode (Oak Creek, Wis.) tied for 49th with a 79-77-156, and freshman
Braden Naumann (Hartland, Wis.) tied for 90th in his first collegiate event with a 87-79--166.Â
Junior
Tim Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) paced Wisconsin Lutheran's B lineup with a 81-79--160.Â
Dubuque topped the 21-team tournament field by 12 strokes over runner-up UW-Stout with a 285-279--564. John Dobbe of Dubuque earned medalist honors by six shots with a 68-64--132.
Wisconsin Lutheran returns to the links next weekend for the Judson Fall Invitational on September 5 and the Twin Ports Collegiate on September 6-7.
