KANSASVILLE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College turned in a strong showing with an 11th-place tie out of 45 teams at the loaded Midwest Region Fall Classic on Friday at Brighton Dale Links. Saturday's second round was halted due to weather deeming Friday's first round results as final. The Warriors finished with a team score of 303 (+15).
For WLC, senior
Riley Tanzi's (West Bend, Wis.) three-under 69 highlighted the day and placed him in a tie for first among the 246-player field. The round marked a career-low and tied for the second-lowest round in program history. Junior
Luka Stojadinovic (Oak Creek, Wis.) added a 76 (+4) to tie for 66th, while sophomore
Isaiah Schaser (Newburg, Wis.) fired a 77 (+5) to tie for 76th. Junior
Tim Valerio (Pewaukee, Wis.) finished with an 81 (+9) to tie for 152nd, and sophomore
Brayden Bode (Oak Creek, Wis.) rounded out the team scoring with an 82 (+10), tying for 165th
Wisconsin Lutheran's B team placed 38th overall with a 323 (+35). The group was led by freshman
Braden Naumann (Hartland, Wis.), who shot a 75 (+3) to tie for 49th. He was followed by junior
Darren Niedfeldt (Beloit, Wis.) (81, +9, t-152nd), senior
Luke Capstran (Oak Creek, Wis.) (83, +11, t-182nd), sophomore
Caleb DeRuiter (Milwaukee, Wis.) (84, +12, t-196th), and sophomore
Brycen Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) (86, +14, t-215th).
Nebraska Wesleyan won the tournament with an impressive 282 (-6), 10 shots clear of runner-up Augustana (Ill.), which carded 292 (+4). The Prairie Wolves were led by Harrison Weddell, who shared individual medalist honors with Tanzi after both posted rounds of 69 (-3).
The Warriors compete next Sunday and Monday at the Grand Intercollegiate hosted by UW-Stout at Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva. First round tee time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
